Two Generation Fords

Like most automotive manufacturers, Ford imagined that introducing some of these vehicles would turn into multi-generational hits. Unfortunately, due to changing consumer tastes and competition, some of these only got 2 generations in North America. So let’s take a look at these 2 generation wonders.

Ford Edge

The Ford Edge was introduced back in 2006 as a 2007 model. A radical step forward for Ford, it was the company’s first mid-size crossover, competing with Nissan Murano.

The mid-size crossover was a success in its own right, selling more than 130,000 in 2007. The Edge’s best year was in 2017, when 142,600 units found their way into homes and fleets.

Unfortunately, changing tastes would pose too much of a market challenge for the Edge. It was discontinued after the 2024 model year without a replacement.
